You won a prize. What now?

It's already yours

Tournament prizes are paid out when the tournament ends. There is no withdrawal request, no approval, and no waiting period — by the time you see your finishing place, the money is in your account.

Very rarely a payout doesn't land on the first try. If that happens to you, go back to the tournament page you registered on — under Tournaments in the top menu, or the link you were sent — and you'll see a green Claim prize button with your amount beside it. The money sits safely in the tournament's contract until you press it: it cannot be lost, and nobody else can take it.

Where your money lives, and how to get to it

Everything you own on Stacked — prizes, chips you cashed out, money you added — sits in one place: your Stacked account. You reach it from the account button in the top right of every page: the rounded pill with your picture, your name, and a small arrow pointing down. Click it and a menu drops open. That menu is what the rest of this page means when it says “the account menu”.

On a phone there's no room for the pill, so the same thing lives behind the ☰ button in the top right — tap it and your account card slides in with the same list underneath.

Six things are in there, and you only ever need three of them: Add funds puts money in with a card, Bridge swaps one kind of money for another (this is the one that turns a bonus prize into dollars), and Send & receive moves money out to somewhere else. The rest — My profile, Create Game, Network — do what they say.

What you actually won

Most prizes are paid in dollars. One dollar is one dollar: it doesn't go up or down, and you can sit down at any table with it straight away. Nothing below applies to you — go and play.

Some tournaments carry a bonus prize paid in something else — usually Ethereum, the currency the wider crypto world runs on. That one behaves like a share in a company rather than like cash: its value moves every day. It's yours either way, and you can turn it into dollars whenever you like.

“How much is my bonus prize worth?”

We deliberately don't print a dollar figure next to a bonus prize. A price we showed you at the moment you won would be out of date by the next morning, and we'd rather show you nothing than a number you can't rely on.

So the live price sits one screen away instead, on the convert screen described below. Opening it costs nothing and commits you to nothing — it shows you today's figure, and you close it again if you don't like the look of it.

Turning a bonus prize into dollars

There are two ways in, and they open the same screen. The prize doesn't expire, so there's no rush to pick one.

Straight after the tournament. When you finish, a card appears over the table with your place and your prize on it. If part of that prize was a bonus prize, the card carries a Convert to dollars button — press that.

Any time later. Open the account menu (top right — see above) and choose Bridge. Same screen, reached from anywhere on the site. It is called Bridge because it also moves money between networks, but converting one thing into another is the job you want it for.

If you signed in with your own crypto wallet rather than with Google or Apple, the button reads Swap ETH to USDC instead. It does the same thing.

   Open the convert screen either way — the button on the result card, or Bridge in the account menu.

   You'll see what you're giving and what you'll get back, priced at that moment. This is the live figure; nothing has happened yet.

   Confirm. A few seconds later the dollars are in your account, ready to play with or to send on.

There is no recovery phrase for you to lose

You may have heard that a crypto account comes with twelve or twenty-four random words that you have to write down and never, ever lose — a seed phrase, sometimes called a recovery phrase. Lose the words, lose the money. It puts a lot of people off, and it is a fair thing to worry about.

It doesn't apply to you. If you signed in with Google, Apple, email, or a phone number, we made the account for you and it is reached the same way every time: log in exactly as you did the first time and everything is where you left it. There is no phrase, so there is nothing to write down and nothing to lose. Protect the Google or Apple account you signed in with and you have protected this one.

If you came in with your own wallet — MetaMask, Rainbow, Coinbase Wallet — none of this changed for you. Your phrase is still yours, it still works the way it always did, and Stacked has never seen it.

Sending it somewhere else

You don't have to. Your prize spends at any Stacked table exactly as it is. But if you'd rather move it to an exchange — Coinbase, Kraken, Binance, wherever you'd turn it into your own currency and take it to a bank — open the account menu and choose Send & receive.

Your exchange will give you a deposit address — a long string starting 0x. Paste it in, and check one thing before you send:
